October                                                  Anna Jacobson

Anna Jacobson is an emerging Brisbane artist and graduated from the Queensland College of Art with a Bachelor of Photography with Honours in 2009. In 2010 her work 'Out of the Mist' was selected for the Poetry Underground Film Festival and screened at the Sydney Fringe. In 2009 she won the Queensland Poetry Festival Film Award for her work 'Of Ochres and Ruins', which screened at the Judith Wright Centre. Anna explores abandoned spaces, memory, diaspora and imagined narratives through photography, performance, video and soundscapes.

I am interested in old objects, spaces and the possible narratives they may have had. This work looks at dolls that have been aged by time, many of which are my mother's. Their adventures and memories are brought to life once more through experimental video and stop motion photography, followed by hauntingly discordant sounds captured from old wind up music boxes.
